The confirmation of US Attorney Michael J. Sullivan as head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (BATFE) was thrown into further doubt Wednesday, when a republican senator who is blocking the nomination renewed complaints that Sullivan has refused to loosen licensing rules for guns.
" 'I recently received his answers to those questions, and I was disappointed in his responses, so I am going to continue to hold this nominee,' Vitter said in a statement released to the (Boston) Globe. 'The nominee seems to support the ATF's current inadequate policies and exhibits a lack of willingness to address these problems.' "
Gridlock is good.

ATF's Mike Sullivan On The Ropes
It appears that Mike Sullivan, the acting BATFE director who is awaiting Senate confirmation as full fledged director -- well, he has some skeletons in the closet.
Viewed as horribly anti-gun, his ties to anti-self defense and gun control organizations has now been exposed. Ryan Horsley at Red's Trading Post has published an eye-opening list of the gun grabbing groups with which Mr. Sullivan is linked.
His confirmation is being held up in the Senate by a handful of senators -- and for good reason, it appears!

Now That We Share Gun Owner Data With Mexico, What Else Will We Share With Canada?
"I've talked about efforts to blame "weak U.S. gun laws" for violence in Mexico (and again here). Now it seems that apparently, violence in Canada is also our fault." -- Armed & Safe.
Good points. A staunch Second Amendment supporter from Ohio who is since deceased, a few years ago was asked by Canadian border control personnel as he cleared the checkpoint, "Do you have your guns with you today?" He innocently replied with a question, "What guns?" He wrote of how the Canadian border guard just smiled. My colleague's car had no pro-gun bumper stickers on it, nor was he in possession of a firearm (even then it was widely known that Canada frowns on such things).
It was clear to us then (and this has been nearly 10 years ago), that our own government -- as conspiratorial as this sounds -- may well have been sharing some firearm ownership data with our neighbors to the north.
So for me, the question isn't so much whether Maximum Mike Sullivan is going north. The better query is what more does he intend to share?
