THERE has been a huge increase in being people shot, stabbed and even kicked to death since Labour came to power.
Shocking statistics released last night show a 14 per cent increase in murder and manslaughter in England and Wales between 1998 and 2007.
There was also a 28 per cent increase in deaths from bladed weapons. Those killed by shootings increased by the same figure.

The Daily Express is complete garbage. There may or may not be a major crime prioblem in the UK and we can refer to respectable sources to inform the debate if we so choose.
The Daily Express - owned and closely managed by a pornographer- is utterly unworthy of belief at any level.
A- Thanks for writing. Ownership is irrelevant, IMHO, considering that a large number of ministers in Parliament -- and people in both rural and urban centers -- are now acknowleding a significant crime problem, with stats to back it up.
You can have your opinion about pornography, but respectfully, it has no bearing on the "yob" issue, as people in the UK refer to it.
A- Just a follow up. Many say -- any more -- that the New York Times is utterly unworthy of belief at any level. True or not, the Grey Lady is losing readers in droves. In the heartland -- its called "flyover country" by some -- it is frequently scorned as being out of touch with mainstream America.
