Go to the White House website to see where President Obama is in his thinking about the lawful ownership of firearms.
There it is, the info that was scrubbed from his "office of the president elect" website when they realized it was creating a firestorm across the U.S. Two big items of concern to every American -- closing the so-called, non-existent gun show "loophole," and make the expired Brady ban permanent.
On the White House website. . . . Scroll down to "Crime and Law Enforcement."

I would have been surprised if they didn't have it there; anyone with a semblance of intelligence knew it would pop up right after he was elected, regardless of how much he lied during his campaign.
Agreed. I wonder if there is anyone out there among the pro-gun crowd that said "he won't try that" who is having second thoughts...
Question concerning President Obama’s Child Safety Lock for handguns.
If President Obama wants to mandate that all pistols have a Child Safety Lock, how is President Obama going to guarantee all the bad guys have Child Safety Locks on their weapons?
Will it be something like this?
Bad Guy goes into a convenience store to rob it.
BG “All right mister clerk! Get ready to be robbed just as soon as I get this Child Safety thing off my gun!”
BG “Hang on a minute. I can’t get this blasted thing to turn loose! Clerk! When I get this thing off YOU’RE A DEAD MAN!”
Clerk pulls out his pistol, points it at the BG and says “OK Buster! Drop that pistol and put your hands up!”
BG “Now wait a minute! Wait a minute! Did you have one of those Child Safety thingys on that pistol?”
Clerk “No! Quit messing with that pistol and drop it! Now be still and don’t move while I call 911.”
Officers arrive.
BG “Officer, Officer – That clerk pointed his pistol at me and it did not have a Child Safety Lock on it!”
Officer to Clerk “Is that true Sir? You did not have a Child Safety Lock on your weapon?”
Clerk “That is true Officer. I am licensed to carry concealed and keep my weapon ready to use just in case some low life scum bag like this one tries to kill me and rob my store!”
Officer “I’m sorry Sir, but President Obama’s New Child Safety Lock Law requires you to have a Child Safety Lock on your pistol at all times.”
Clerk “But what about this guy? He said he was going to kill me!”
Officer “Well Sir, it looks as though the Child Safety Lock is still on his pistol. Sir, you are under arrest for violating President Obama’s New Child Safety Lock Law.”
BG “Right-On Officer! Arrest that dude for pointing a Non Child Safety Locked pistol at me. And you Mister Clerk, when my lawyer gets through with you we are going to sue you and your store for 6 million dollars!!! For pointing a Non Child Safety Locked pistol at me! I could’a been hurt! Or even Killt!!”
Yep. A great question and interesting scenario. These laws are not designed to save lives, they are designed to be passed so the anti-gun Left, and their minions, can crow and beat their chests that they are 'doing something." The economic fixes are going to take a while and they will want to at least show they are doing some "good" for the people.
I despise when a politician says "if it only saves a single life, it is worth it." Responsible lawmakers do not push through laws "to save one life." That is irresponsible. Responsible politicians do whats in the best interest of the many. These feel good initiatives are designed to buy votes and garner contributions in the future.

With all the discussions concerning college students legally carrying weapons on campus, let’s look at some thoughts that I have not seen expressed.
Yes, there are some in every level of college that do not match the norm for age. However, most students, 90+ % ?, fit the age brackets discussed below.
Freshman
This is usually the first time the freshman is away from home for a longer time than spending an overnight slumber party or spending time with a friend and their family on vacation.
The freshman wakes up in a totally new environment. New people. New friends. New location. New social guidelines.
The freshman must work his way through potentially life changing choices. “Am I sure about my major? Did I make the right choice? Social networking – Am I wanting to join with the group that will be the best for me?”
There is no longer any direct parental control. The pressure from fellow freshmen is to place a little more emphasis on doing new and exciting things instead of hitting the books as hard as should be.
And remember, there are very few freshmen who are not 17 or 18 years old.
But wait! The usual citizen has to be 21 in most states to legally carry a concealed weapon!
90+% of the average freshman class do NOT meet a basic requirement for legally obtaining a concealed handgun license. THEY ARE TOO YOUNG!!
Sophomore
The weeding out process has begun and not all freshmen make it to the sophomore level. Usually, the total number of sophomores is lower than the number for freshmen. The sophomore is beginning to settle down a little more actually realizing that if he does not make the grades he will not stay in school. He finally knows the buildings where most of his classes are located. He has taken a very large step in the process of learning how to study. That aggravating thing that knocks a lot of freshmen out of school.
Age is still a factor here in that very few sophomores are not 18 or 19 years old.
But wait! The usual citizen still has to be 21 in most states to legally carry a concealed weapon!

Junior
When the third year of college rolls around, most kids have settled in to the world of college reality. Most are focused in on a major study to prepare for the big wide world out there. Studying, while never really fun, is at last understood to the point of keeping up a passing grade point average. Real individual responsibility has begun to take hold.
Very few are not 19 or 20 years old.
But wait! The usual citizen has still has to be 21 in most states to legally carry a concealed weapon!

Senior/Graduate Student
The senior, or higher student, at this point in time has invested three or more years in college and preparing for the future. The senior knows how to focus on studies. The senior realizes that immature and/or illegal behavior will result in his being ejected from the college and loosing what he has already acquired as a student. The senior is looking past his last year at college to join the work force and be a productive member of society.
Most seniors are 21 or 22 years old.
But wait! The usual citizen still has to be 21 in most states to legally carry a concealed weapon!
90+% of the average senior class DO meet a basic requirement for legally obtaining a concealed handgun license. THEY ARE NO LONGER TOO YOUNG!!
Granted there are all ages in every year of collage.
But an individual:
Still has to be 21 to obtain a concealed carry license.
Still has to have the background check.
Still has to have a clean history.
Still has to pass classroom work concerning laws related to carrying a concealed weapon.
Still has to prove firing proficiency.
Allowing legal concealed carry on a college campus does NOT mean that everyone at the school can carry concealed. The number of students eligible to carry concealed actually is a low percentage of the total student body. And, the students eligible to carry concealed are the ones more mature mentally and in age.
A, thanks for writing.
It is interesting that you finish up your invective by saying that most of the underclassman are too young, but in much of what you write you suggest it is about maturity. Maturity is irrelevant with freshman, sophs and juniors. The law is the law. You know that and I know that and you are playing word games. Yes, most senior qualify based on their age.
You leave out two huge contituencies when you irrationally attack legal carry on college campuses -- college professors and staff employees. Professors, should they choose, have every right to defend themselves and yet that right is denied. Staffers from secretaries to landscapers to custodians to plumbers (and everyone in between) has the basic human right to self defense. And yet you ignore that . . . . largely, I am going to guess, because it doesn't fit your argument and actually harms it.
By the way, don't forget about graduate students.
