Eddie Eagle Now Has Reached 20M Children

I am opening some mail from the weekend and just scanned my copy of The Eagle Eye, the official publication of the Eddie Eagle GunSafe program. Turns out that the gun safety program for children, which is endorsed by the National Sheriffs Association and was recommended by (brace yourselves) the Clinton-Reno administration, in 19 years has reached 20 million children with its life-saving message.

That's awesome! I am an EE instructor, but only was able to put on two classes last year. I will make time to do more this year. I can say, however, that the teaching group I work through, PRO-Training, has make significant inroads in getting the message to the Hispanic community in Central Ohio. I personally have forwarded several packages of spanish-language coloring books, stickers and Eddie Eagle videos upon request. The valuable message continues to make its way into all parts of our community!

Congratulations Eddie, and congratulations to the volunteer instructors, civic leaders, educators and law enforcement professionals whose combined efforts have resulted in 20 million U.S. kids learning to: STOP! DON'T TOUCH! LEAVE THE AREA! TELL AN ADULT! if they find a gun in an unsupervised situation.

The Bradys and VPC can claim they are gun safety organizations all they want, but they have not even begun to have the positive impact that Eddie Eagle makes among school kids.
