I'll Trade That Tax Rebate For Something With A Chrome Finish

Updated Saturday, Jan. 26, 2008, 7:20 pm -- YES YES YES, I am aware that the so-called "tax rebate" many Americans will receive is actually our own money coming back to us! I've had a handful of emails from readers questioning why I'm so excited about the money "the government" is giving me. If you read between the lines, my "excitement" was heavily veiled sarcasm at the action, which pretty much every first year economist knows will do nothing to stimulate the economy. But I do plan to make a purchase, as I indicated.

*********
Thank you President Bush, Speaker Pelosi and Sen. Reid for the neat little rebate you plan to give me to help jump-start the economy. As a taxpayer I appreciate your asking my expert assistance in lending a helping hand to our ailing retailers. I am honored. I assumed you only thought of me as a number at tax time, just another commercial Realtor working hard to keep food on the table.

Until now, I guess I never understood your unwavering belief in me and my power over the economy. Thus, I am truly humbled that you have empowered me with this awesome responsibility.

Soooo, in order to help boost the economy, I plan to immediately plow that "up to $1,200" right back into my community with a local retailer. There is a nicely-fitted little chromed item I have had my eye on for some time now.

It needs a home. I will give it a home. And in doing so, I will do my part as a patriotic American to support your economic stimulus package, and our future.

Sounds like a good idea to me too. Actually that stimlus package might just stimulate me to pick up an AR, or at least help pay for it. Thank you Ms. Pelosi! I'll put that money t o good use.

Don't forget the ammo! My 9mm stock is sorely depleted. It would seem that 16 round magazines just make it easier to shoot more in less time.

Don't be so coy, Brent - are you really planning a gun purchase - do share!

Who's being coy? I thought, without details, I was being brutally frank. BTW, have you ever noticed that when law abiding people buy guns, the liberal leadership that hates such independence refers to our "streets being flooded with guns."

So if law abiding folks decide to go out and use their "rebate" to buy a gun, blame Speaker Pelosi. Yes, the democrat leadership in Congress will be responsible for flooding our streets with guns. ;)

Sorry - I was joking about the coy. Probably better fodder for a "gun-related forum" with anonymity for you, too, I was just curious what EXACTLY you were hankering for... :)

Chrome, and about $1200... I'll just have to speculate...

You must get bored of the back-patting, but nice job; this is one of exactly... 1 blog that I read regularly... ;)

No worries! And thank you for the pat on the back. It is appreciated!

Actually, I'm torn. It might be chrome and close to that value, or . . . I might pick up a nice 30-30. You know, something like our dad's or grand-dad's hunting rifle -- what the antis have lately started referring to as an intermediate sniper rifle. Wait a minute!!??...if I buy one of those, then that would mean the lib dem leadership - by way of their stimulos package - is responsible for flooding the streets with 1 more of those. Hmmmmmm . . .

As a Jewess in the US, I would like to point out that America wasn't won with a registered gun. All REAL Americans put our 2nd Amendment FIRST !! Criminals are not stopped by talk, but by FIREARMS.
