Bush DOJ Files Amicus -- On DCs Side

Updated Jan. 12, 7:25 pm -- Just heading out and still chewing on this news from earlier today. Have been looking forward for some time to this evening, but am in a funk. The only thought that keeps running through my mind over and over is, "With friends like these, who needs enemies?"

**********
Betrayed. The Bush administration appears to want it two ways -- declare the 2A an individual right, but reverse the DC circuit court's decision to overturn the 30-year-old ban on handguns in the District of Columbia.

Attorney and scholar Dave Hardy has a detailed analysis on this perplexing brief.

NOTE: We are going to have this shoved in our faces by the antis in every Statehouse from coast to coast. I can hear it now: "Even the president says gun control may be okay based on the evidence." Sheeeesh......

i read this last night and was in shock. i am still in shock today. what are they thinking? the gop is very good at telling conservatives what we want to hear and then doing something else. why bother voting for a candidate who said he was pro-gun as in bush?

Yep! I'm sure Chuck Shumer got a real giggle out of this when he heard. Mr. Bush, if you recall, said he was willing to support renewing the so-called "assault weapons ban," but I always felt that was a red herring since he was convinced that the then GOP-led Congress, reflecting the will of the national electorate, would not let it come up for a vote. so he would not have to deal with it. But this action frosts a lot of Americans.
