Virginia Protest, Counter-Protest Gets Tense

"Tensions escalated as about 100 supporters of a bill that would close the so-called gun show loophole lay on the Capitol lawn to honor victims of gun violence. About 200 opponents surrounded the group holding signs that read, "Here Lie Disarmed Victims . . ."

The full story is here.

Note: The young people who were tragically cut down by the criminal shooter at Virginia Tech were, indeed, disarmed victims. That responsibility lies solely with paranoid politicians and, in this case, VT campus administrators. A few months before the shootings, the Virginia General Assembly failed to act on HB 1572, a measure to permit the carrying of concealed firearms (with a proper license from state government) on campus. It died in a subcommittee. After the bill was thrown out, Larry Hincker, a spokesman for Virginia Tech, the site of the carnage, told reporters, "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."

Those students and faculty were disarmed victims. Hoplophobes should quit denying it. If they only had a brain.
