Dial 911 And . . . Wait

Here is another argument for Castle Doctrine legislation, particularly here in the Buckeye State. In this writeup of a 911 call to Chicago police, a woman sends a clear warning that doing everything the authorities want you makes you vulnerable:

"And I think, perhaps, someone should let Chicago's 911 system know that I don't feel very served or protected anymore, by the thought of dialing 911 when a threat at my door makes me feel that I'm unsafe."

Here in Ohio, we appear to have reporters who are obsessed by the idea that the only person who would support Ohio Senate Bill 184 are those people who have been victimized in their homes and faced financial ruin through nuisance lawsuits in the civil courts. And yet, any rational, thinking person would look at this story, just one more in a long line of personal accounts, and say to themselves, "Castle Doctrine/No Duty To Retreat" legislation is a common-sense, citizen safety proposal that should be passed immediately.

Hear that Ohio reporters? THIS is why people come to the Statehouse, without being a previous victim, to testify on behalf of this legislation. Because regular, lawful people know they are their own first line of defense, as one Central Ohio woman told lawmakers last month.
