The Meaning of 'Bear Arms' And 2A Protection of Pistols

With the Heller case looming, there has been much said and written by the anti-self-defense crowd that the Second Amendment has nothing to do with private ownership of firerams, or only applies to the federal government, and not to local government.

Clayton Cramer, whom I met briefly at GRPC last fall in Kentucky, has a piece on the history of the meaning of the words "bear arms," as well as a link to an analysis by he Joe Olson discussing pistols being protected arms under the 2A. Great reading.
