"The mob I now faced carried no ropes or guns. Its weapons were smooth-tongued lies spoken into microphones and printed on the front pages of America's newpapers. It no longer sought to break the bodies of its victims. Instead, it devastated their reputations and drained away their hope. But it was a mob all the same, and its purpose – to keep the black man in his place."
-- U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, from his new book, "My Grandfather's Son."
A powerful statement. His words could easily be describing the myths and falsehoods used to tarnish lawful firearms owners when they stand up for every Americans' right regarding the Second amendment. Like Justice Thomas' experience during his confirmation hearings, the same kind of shrill exaggerations regarding the "dangers" of firearm ownership and criminal misuse of a legal product are routinely found on the front pages of many major metro daily newspapers. Only in this case, the discrimination isn't over skin color, it involves the self-defense tool a law-abiding person chooses to use.

USA Today Says Find Middle Ground On DC Gun Issue
In a USA Today editorial, the national paper feels the Supreme Court should use the Parker/Heller case to "sensibly define the limits of both individual gun ownership and government's ability to control it." Their opinion is elitist.
Larry Pratt, executive director of Gun Owners of America, provided the editors with an opposing viewpoint. He writes, "In recent years, the Supreme Court has already stated that whenever 'the people' is mentioned in the Bill of Rights that it refers to the same 'class of persons.' So if 'the people' in the Second Amendment doesn't refer to all of the people, then it doesn't in the First or Fourth Amendments either."

NY: Spitzer License Plan Goes Down In Flames; Hillary's Complaints Helped Seal Decision
BREAKING: The New York Post's Albany Bureau Chief Fred Dicker is reporting that Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign put intense pressure on New York Gov. Elliot Spitzer to abandon his controversial "drivers licenses for illegal aliens" plan because it was hurting her campaign. The Post is reporting that the Clinton campaign felt significant damage was being done to her presidential efforts not just in New York, but across the nation. Only today, after a disastrous debate where she flip-flopped on the issue, and mounting pressure from across the nation, did Mrs. Clinton abandon her support for the plan. Until today, Spitzer had fully intended to implement his program even though more than 70 percent of New Yorkers opposed the scheme.
In addition to outrage from ordinary Americans, the plan had firearms owners in the Empire State in an uproar for two reasons: 1) An illegal alien with a legal NY driver's license might have been able to use the license for identification to illegally purchase a firearm; and 2) Spitzer has continually denigrated lawful firearms ownership by law abiding New Yorkers, yet was ready to "reward" illegal aliens in his state with an official piece of government identification.

Ohio AG Dann Says Reporters May Not 'Copy' CHL Personal Data
Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann issued an opinion Tuesday clarifying that Ohio journalists cannot photocopy, photograph, dictate, or otherwise jot down personal information on Ohio Concealed Handgun License holders when requesting such data at county sheriff offices. But they can use their "mental processes." Here is the full text of the opinion from the AG's office, which is a response to an inquiry from the Trumbull County prosecutor's office.
