This Date In History

July 13, 1787 -- The United States Congress, under the Articles of Confederation, enacted the Northwest Ordinance, establishing rules for governing the Northwest Territory, for admitting new states to the Union and limiting the expansion of slavery.

The first capital of the new Northwest Territory -- Marietta (now Marietta, Ohio). Today a beautiful city on the Ohio River rich with history.
