My good friend Kenn Blanchard, author of the book Black Man With A Gun and the Urban-Shooter podcast, recently incorporated into one of his shows a commentary I wrote on the passing of Col. Paul Tibbets, pilot of the Enola Gay. I finally got around to listening to it this evening. During his show, he included the incredible audio of a poem, "She Called," written and spoken by Marine Staff Sargeant Lawrence E. Dean II. It is about six months old. The poem describes how average Americans of every ethnicity, every religion, every political party . . . stepped up to defend this nation in the days, weeks and months after the brutal terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. You can see both the video and audio of Staff Sgt. Dean's testimony on YouTube by clicking here. If you would like to listen to Kenn's full podcast honoring the U.S. militaryon this Veteran's Day, including my commentary on Col. Tibbets, go to the Urban-Shooter podcast site. Click on one of the buttons on the right side of the page to access the broadcast.
