John Edwards was booed off the stage tonight in Des Moines, Iowa by people attending a John Mellencamp concert. Invited to the microphone by Mellencamp following a rendition of the popular "Small Town," Edwards tried to talk about understanding people who live in small towns. People started chanting "refund." Edwards quickly departed.
Author's Note: Rock concerts and politics rarely mix. During the 2004 presidential campaign, Bruce Springsteen played a brief free concert on the Ohio State University "oval," as a lead in for John Kerry to speak. Thousands showed up that evening. Once "The Boss" finished his two or three songs, he made way for Kerry. Thousands left, police said. Only a few hundred people stayed around to hear Kerry's remarks.
