Shooting Report: Police Say AK Used In Home Invasion

Reports have come in this morning of an alleged home invasion in Columbus. Police say an AK-47 "assault rifle" was used. Now I don't know if those are the words the police used, or if reporters are just going with what they think. I think they mean competition rifle. Well, they think they mean "assault weapon" but the errors of fact regarding terminology don't seem to bother them.

Thankfully, no one died in this home invasion. But I seriously doubt that a full-out machine gun was used, even though that is what the media, or police, are essentially saying. Police are not ready to say the shooting took place at a drug house, though drugs were found at the scene. My guess is that is exactly the situation we have. If so, this was a drug problem, not a gun problem.

Of course, I also cannot ignore the irony that this occurs at the same time the nation's media has set up camp in Columbus to watch the primary results on Tuesday, especially among neck-and-neck rivals Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Remember them? While both lately are paying lip service to the "rights" the 2A guarantees, the two continually have called extensively for harsher gun control laws.

I can't wait to see what Katie has to say! Sigh . . .
