Illinois State Police Say Vomiting Is Better Deterrant Than Fighting Back, Using Firearms

Updated: Sunday, Feb. 3, 2008, 9:22 pm -- Sources are telling Chicago area media that a sixth fictim was found shot in the Tinley Park Lane Bryant store, but has survived.

In addition, presidential candidate Barack Obama, who knows Chicago well, issued a short statement. He did not call for more gun control. He said the shooting is unacceptable, and that people should feel safe in malls.

Frankly, that the shooting is unacceptable is obvious. An almost unnecessary statement. But that people should "feel safe" in malls? Not today, when violent criminals know that pretty much every mall has victims aplenty who are unarmed . . . because so many shopping center owners ban carrying legal concealed firearms.

I am not sure what these five women had to endure before their brutal, untimely murders in the Brookside Marketplace in Tinley Park, Ill. yesterday. I grieve for their families, and I grieve for the loss of self defense rights suffered by virtually all women throughout greater Chicagoland at the hands of controlling politicos.

Still, the authorities there have solutions . . . albeit poorly thought out. Anyone can look at the recommendations from the Illinois State Police on protecting yourself against criminal attack, and see that the ideas are worthless. And insulting. What's your opinion?

BTW, the shooter is still at large. But authorities there should be able to find him rather quickly, right? Since the state made it illegal to possess a gun or ammunition without FOID card. Right?
