Lt. Col. Dave Grossman, one of the leading authorities on self defense and crime avoidance, is coming to Columbus, Ohio for a one-day seminar. From what I have read and heard from others, this program is something that anyone who cares about their safety, and the safety of their family members, should attend. Mark your calendar for September 27.
Sponsored by Buckeye Firearms Association, the program looks at proper mindset for staying alive. A lot of people will say they have a gun to defend themselves, but when it really counts, a firearm is only as powerful as the mind that controls it. Without the proper mindset, without having the mental tools to survive when absolutely everything goes wrong, "you're nothing but a sheep with a firearm."
The program is designed to help people prepare themselves for the worst, and to be ready to survive a lethal force encounter. According to the announcement, "On September 27, you will have the rare opportunity to bullet-proof your mind with one of the world's leading authorities on human aggression and violent crime."
The one-day mind training workshop is called "The Bulletproof Mind: Tactical Mindset for Armed Citizens."
For more detailed information on this program, go to the Buckeye Firearms Association website. Registration information, costs and location are all outlined. This is a class that costs upwards of $1,000 for the day. You can attend for a fraction of that.
As most Ready Line readers know, I am an NRA Certified Firearms Instructor as well as a Refuse To Be A Victim instructor. In both programs, whether firearms related or simply crime avoidance/personal safety, I teach sections on defensive mindset. But we only have a limited time to do so in those settings. Lt. Col. Grossman, a West Point psychology professor and professor of military science, will absolutely blow your mind with an entire day of mental tactics. He takes the defensive mindset discussion to the "Nth" degree.
This is not a gun class. This is not a hands-on self defense/martial arts class. This is a class about staying alive by learning to deter attacks, avoid panic, and improve your chances of living through the worst. It will teach you to use your brain.
I plan to be there. I anticipate the class will fill quickly.
