Updated: Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, 12:31 am -- The Associated Press just referred to the junior senator from New York as the "fading Hillary Rodham Clinton." Wow.

Sen. Barack Obama appears to have the edge in the Wisconsin democrat primary over Sen. Hillary Clinton. Final tallies are not in, but exit polling is showing the following:

Obama Won: Women (51-49)
All age groups under 65
All education levels
All regions of the state -- urban, suburban and rural
Voters without college degrees (50-48)
Democrats (50-49)
Whites (53-46)
White men (59-38)
Voters who decided in the last week (58-42)
Won or tied voters of all income levels
Tied among white women
Tied among union members
Tied among union households

Interesting . . .

On the republican side, John McCain won handily in Wisconsin, telling people here in my home city at a downtown rally that he believes he will lead his party into the presidential election. I was invited to the McCain rally but still have differences with his position on many issues. Plus, I was at a scheduled PRO Board Meeting, where the conversation was far more interesting.

Results to come in the next 12 hours -- Hawaii's caucuses.

On Deck: Texas and (sigh) Ohio. As you might have guessed, the onslaught of television ads has begun. In both states, Sen. Clinton is leading in the polls.

I wonder if any of the candidates will don some camo, head to a sporting goods store in duck country and ask if they can 'git a hunting license. Sorry, we Buckeyes will never forget John Kerry coming here to pander to hunters.
