Left-Wing Columnist Critical of Hillary, Barack Silence On Gun Control

"Despite the horrific school shootings of late and the rush to solutions, there are a few politicians whose voices have been silent on the issue. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama."

So writes Los Angeles journalist Mona Gable in an essay for The Huffington Post. Her complaint is that the candidates are more worried about winning primaries in Ohio, Texas, Pennsylvania and Wyoming.

I will give her this. She's clever with the written word. Gable ridiculed a very serious Arizona school safety proposal to arm teachers. The bill's sponsor, Arizona state Senator Karen S. Johnson, passionately testified that kids today are sitting ducks in gun-free zones. Gable's response?

"But can't you just picture it? Instead of duck, duck goose, teachers could do target practice on the yard. 'Shoot, shoot Britney!' "

Interestingly, a collection of Gable's essays was published under the header, "Mothers Who Think: Tales of Real-Life Parenthood." Ms. Gable, I would suggest that there are hundreds of thousands of "thinking mothers" -- and even grandmothers -- in the United States you need to get to know. They are armed because they understand they are responsible for protecting their children.

The tragic killings you speak of were committed by criminals. Not guns. Obama and Clinton may not agree with this fact any more than you do, but they are playing a political game with the electorate as they focus on Battleground States.

I guess the one thing I can agree with Ms. Gable on is the following: She doesn't like their pandering, and I find it dishonest, considering the two candidates' voting records, previous public statements, and bills they have co-sponsored.
