One of Ohio's staunchest defenders of the basic human right of self defense, and the state's four-plus-year-old CCW law, tonight stands on the brink of resignation.
A sexual harrassment investigation that snowballed into a major scandal has the state's top democrat leaders -- and many republicans -- calling for Ohio Attorney General Mark Dann's resignation. Dann, a democrat, has been a beacon in the party of the left since his days in the Ohio General Assembly. As a lawmaker, he voted in favor of concealed carry. As AG, he has defended our imperfect, but improving, CCW law.
If the accusations are true, Dann's office needs to be cleaned up. I know a couple of attorneys there who are great people and lifers in the office. It seems inevitable that Dann will be leaving the post. If he does not resign, leaders within his own political party say he will be impeached.
If he is replaced, I only hope that whomever is appointed to fill his post is as strong on self defense and the 2A rights of every Ohioan as Mr. Dann has been.
