CMP 'Snow Shoot' Draws Competitors To Frigid Matches

The weather was brutal, but the comradeship was warm. A week ago today, several passionate -- and bundled up -- shooters braved the cold of the Great Lakes, and traveled to Kalamazoo, Mich. to participate in the 8th annual "SNOW SHOOT" Vintage Rifle Match.

The annual matches are sponsored by the Southern Michigan Gun Club and the Civilian Marksmanship Program. In all a total of 52 shooters participated in rifle match, along with 20 pistol shooters and 15 period dressed competitors. For a writeup and photos from the day-long SNOW SHOOT event, click here.

Most importantly, this event is a fundraiser for the M1 for Vets Program, which provides M1 Garand Rifles to disabled vets of the war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
