If you're in the Columbus area Friday, I strongly encourage you to stop by and attend the 9th annual induction ceremony for the Ohio Military Hall of Fame. It takes place on the east side (Third Street) of the Ohio Statehouse.
Nearly 1,000 people are expected to attend the ceremony, which will start promptly at 11:30 am, and conclude in one hour. The annual ceremony honors Ohioans who have served in the U.S. military and were decorated for valor. Seven of the 20 inductees are being honored posthumously. Each inductee, or their family representative, will be presented with the Ohio Medal of Valor. At the conclusion of the ceremony, there will be a military flyover.
For details on this year's inductees, and their citations, go to: http://www.ohioheroes.org/. The honorees this year include two Congressional Medal of Honor recipients. Many people deserve credit for this annual ceremony, but I have to tip my hat to Bob White, who retired as a major, U.S. Army, Special Forces. A great guy, a patriot, and one hell of a real estate broker to boot (disclaimer: he is principal broker in my office). Nevertheless, thanks to all the people who each year put together this very important ceremony to honor Ohio's military heroes.
Remember -- 11:30 am Friday. I will be there. I hope to see you there also.
BTW, if it rains, the ceremony moves inside the Statehouse Rotunda (but we lose the flyover).
