Wisconsin Man Sentenced To Prison Because Of Gun Malfunction

From the utter nonsense files . . .

"A Wisconsin man whose federal conviction for illegally transferring a machine gun drew national attention on CNN and the Internet was sentenced Tuesday to 30 months in prison.

"David R. Olofson, 36, who remains a member of the Army Reserve until his felony conviction becomes official, was convicted by a jury in January. Olofson, whose case has been reported several times on Lou Dobbs' show on CNN, faced up to 10 years in prison, Federal sentencing guidelines called for 27 to 33 months.

"U.S. District Judge Charles Clevert said Olofson knew or should have known the gun in question fired automatically."

But it didn't just do that. It wasn't designed to. It was a semi-automatic competition rifle that malfunctioned. Talk about a travesty of justice. Ironically, the BATFE, which led the charge in this case, is in Columbus today "sweeping up" suspected bad guys. Last night's television news said the police would have a dragnet out for "guns, drugs and violent criminals."

Shouldn't they have that list in reverse order? Starting with criminals?

But then let's perpetuate an irrational fear of inanimate objects. It's easier to pass gun control laws that way if the public continues to have the s**t scared out of them with nonsense reporting.

BATFE confiscated the rifle and sent it to their labs to be tested. Lab said it was not in violation, ie not an automatic weapon. Officials directed the lab to retest with "soft primer" commercial ammo, not what was being shot in the gun. They finally got it to fail with multiple shots.
So, their motto appears to be "we'll just keep on trying until we find something to charge you with."
If this stands Olofson not only serves time, but as a convicted felon may no longer own a firearm and looses any benefits he had coming from his service in the reserve as well.
Y'all best understand, if you own any semi-auto firearms it's only a matter of time before they come take them from you. Might be nice about it and just confiscate the gun, or throw you in jail if you protest.

I would like to hear more info about this case, but this is pathetic, exactly who were the Jury, or was this guy denied a trial by Jury. The BATF needs to be dissolved

Len Savage, Historic Arms, LLC was not allowed to inspect the AR15 and removed from the court room. This is the prosecutions attempt to get a conviction regardless of the circumstances. They are gun haters, as is, obviously the jury. The prosecution knew theymight lose if Mr Savage inspected the gun and gave his assessment. Just like all liberal gun haters the prosecution will stop at nothing( including cheating and prventing all the facts)to get a conviction.

I once had A marlin model 60 that would fire in short bursts if I did'nt keep it clean. It'an honest mistake. This guy is being hung because some anti-gun fool needs something to hang his hat on.
