A report out tonight alleges that billionaire financier George Soros, no friend of American liberty, has been a donor to John McCain since 2001.
On more than one occasion, the National Rifle Association has linked Soros to the United Nations, where the former was pushing a treaty that will ban private ownership of firearms on a worldwide basis.
In 2004, the NRA's Wayne LaPierre stated that under the banner of IANSA - the International Action Network on Small Arms - Soros operative Rebecca Peters was working to capitalize on the success of her gun ban campaign in Australia, where firearms possession is now illegal and crime is going through the roof. Soros also funded the gun control group, Americans for Gun Safety, which initially was successful in its masquerade as a pro-gun organization.
On his own website, Soros is described as global financier and philanthropist, and founder and chairman of a network of foundations that promote, among other things, the creation of open, democratic societies based upon the rule of law, market economies, transparent and accountable governance, freedom of the press, and respect for human rights.
Riiiight. If he were truly a champion of human rights, he would not be trying to trump United States sovereignty with his out-of-the-mainstream world view. And because of the genocide of disarmed peoples in various parts of the world over the past century, I should think he would have some respect for the basic human right of self defense.
