Bait And Switch

Bryan Miller is an avowed anti self defense advocate. In fact, he is executive director of Ceasefire NJ. But I'll bet if he needed help he would be calling for an LEO (armed, of course).

Anyway, Miller has long been playing fast and loose with facts on his site. Thirdpower over at Days of Our Trailers called him on it. This same attempt (same words) has been used in legislative testimony and in some televised debates. If you find yourself in a debate, you might want to know how these emotional figures could be thrown in your face, and how to respond with facts.

Mr. Miller writes:

"The United States has, by far, the highest rate of gun homicide among those countries commonly known as industrialized, namely Organization for Ecomonic Cooperation and Development (OECD) members . . ."

Actually, as ThirdPower points out, according to Miller's own linked IANSA document, Mexico, (an OECD member since '94) is considered "industrialized" and has a higher per capita homicide rate than the US., at 5.11 vs 3.92.

Read Miller's writings, and then look at the facts and how to formulate a response to such creative word play.
